Hotel Malik's four-storey building, with the Boulevard Avenue restaurant at street level

About Hotel Malik

A hotel with a lake across the road and Kashmir under its roof.

The hotel

An Address on the Boulevard

Hotel Malik is a four-storey building on Boulevard Road, the road that follows the shore of Dal Lake through Srinagar. You will know it by the red hotel sign and by Boulevard Avenue, our restaurant, at street level.

The address does much of the work. Shikaras wait across the road, a walk along the water starts at our door, and the Mughal gardens lie further along the same shore. Upstairs, rooms look out over the lake on one side and towards the hills on the other.

Character

Timber, Tigers and a Rotary Telephone

Walk in and you are surrounded by honey-coloured timber, laid in diagonal panels around the front desk. Beside it stands an antique rotary telephone on a carved stand, and behind it hangs a row of black-and-white photographs in dark frames.

Through in the lounge, a carved ceiling and chandelier hang over tufted leather sofas, teal floral curtains and a large woven tapestry of tigers. It is a quiet place to sit between outings or wait for the rest of your party.

The rooms carry that spirit in different ways, from carved ceilings overhead to modern, softly lit slats. You can compare them on our rooms page.

Booking direct

No Agents in Between

You deal with the hotel, from your first question to your arrival. Send your dates on WhatsApp or call us, and the people who run the hotel will reply. You can ask about rates, rooms, views or airport plans before you decide, and there is nothing to pay to enquire.

That also makes it easier to ask for what you want: a window facing the lake, a room near your parents, or advice on the road to Sonamarg in November.

What guests say

Our reviews come from families, road-trippers and guests who have held functions with us. One guest, Rohan Biswas, wrote on Google that "The lake view rooms are just awesome". Mohsin Yaqoob wrote that "Breakfast was a treat", and Snober Khanday, who held a family function at the hotel, described "the decor, the food, and the service" as top notch.

If you have stayed with us, we would be glad to hear how it went. You can leave a Google review, or tell us directly at the desk.

Who we suit

Hotel Malik works best for travellers who want to be on the lake without sleeping on it. Families like having a restaurant downstairs and space to park out front. Couples tend to ask for a lake view or a carved ceiling. Road-trippers appreciate an easy address to find after a long drive, and it makes a practical base for day trips to Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam.
